O nouă monedă comemorativă ucraineană - 21.01.2018

On 23 January, the Bank of Ukraine issues a coin with a facial of 2 grivnas, minted on an alpaca alloy, also known as German silver, dedicated to the scientist, surgeon, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and one of the founders of the surgical schools of Ukraine, Oleksandr Shalimov.

Shalimov, author of more than 800 scientific works, promoted the creation of two research institutes in Ukraine, in Kharkiv and Kiev. During his life he made around 40 thousand operations, he is widely known in the world for his work. He was a member of the International Union of Surgeons, the Association of Surgeons of Ukraine, Austria and Germany, as well as a member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine and the Academy of Sciences of New York.




The reverse of the coin shows a portrait of Oleksandr Shalimov, on the right side of it his name written vertically, on his name a red drop simulates blood and life, and finally the years in which he lived 1918 - 2006. 




The obverse of the coin shows a stylized composition representing the hand of a surgeon with a scalpel, surrounded by an ornamental ornament and inscriptions in Ukrainian of Shalimov himself: "Learning throughout life, not considered intelligent enough and never taking for granted. defeated". It also represents the national coat of arms of Ukraine, the year of issue, the face value and the logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine.
