We are accustomed to dedicate coins to events, in this case sports, which are going to be held, what is not so common is dedicating it to an event already held. This is the case of the next currency issued by the Bank of Ukraine on October 21, with which it wants to pay tribute to the Ukrainian Paralympic team that participated in the XV Rio 2016 Summer Paralympic Games, in which its 172 athletes participated in 15 disciplines, obtaining a total of 117 medals (41 of gold, 37 of silver and 39 of bronze), being in third position, only behind China and the United Kingdom.

The coin has a facial of 2 grivnas, and has been minted on an alpaca alloy, also called German silver.

The back of the coin shows on a background of wavy lines a Paralympic athlete with a racket in his hand and his name. In the upper part appears the logo of the Ukrainian paralympic movement and the year of celebration of the games, 2016; to the left of the figure of the athlete the semicircular inscription "XV Paralympic Games".

The obverse shows the number of medals won in each metal by Ukraine, one medal with the logo of the National Paralympic Committee of Ukraine and the other with the design of the official Rio 2016 medal. The composition is completed with the emblem of the State of Ukraine, the inscription Ukraine; the year of issue, 2017, the mint mark of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine and the denomination 2 hryvnias.
