As I 'm sure you recall, Germany issued in the 2016 a coin of 5 euros called Planet Earth , currency was presented as a world first by being the first to use polymer, separating it the outer ring of the core. It was announced that this would be the first of a series of innovative currencies. Today the German Finance Ministry announces the following coins of this type to be issued between the years 2017-2021.

Under the same name, Planet Earth, although I guess with different design, over the next 5 years will be issued as many coins, which will be dedicated each to the different climate zones that exist on our planet: Tropical, Subtropical Temperate, Subpolar and Polar. Each will feature the famous ring in a different color, and each mint will have a different tone color, like this year.

In total, they will be minted each year 2.3 million pieces, of which 300,000 will be in the Proof quality. The issuance of the first coin of the new series is scheduled for spring 2017. The coins as circulation will be available at the branches of the Bundesbank at face value, while the quality Proof will be sold at a price superior, websites and numismatic professionals.
